Strongpilot Electronic Flight Bag (EFB) Application Suite

Introduction

Strongpilot offers fully integrated EFB Class-I/II software solutions for all aircraft types running on EFB Platform.

Strongpilot software applications provide a powerful and user-friendly information environment that replaces time-consuming paper-based methods, therefore improving information accuracy and flight crew productivity.

What is EFB

Normally, all the necessary procedures for the flight operation are done in paper form. The Electronic Flight Bag (EFB) is a platform that allows to digital access to takeoff & landing performance calculations, flight manuals and documents, instrument flight charts, electronic flight folder (EFF) and so on.

EFB’ s may be totally portable or mounted in the aircraft (e.g., cradle, mounting arm)

  • May be battery-powered or may obtain power from the aircraft’s ship’s power directly.

  • May have access to various sources of data such as a GPS and aircraft avionic data busses.

Benefits of an EFB

  • To reduce the workload of pilots and to focus on flight,

  • The software allows accurate takeoff and landing calculations,

  • Optimizing fuel consumption and expanding the useful life of aircraft engines,

  • Reducing the volume of paperwork and removing a lot of the margin of human error.

  • Increasing flight safety,

  • To follow the flight operation continuously,

  • To relieve the flight operation,

  • Onboard calculations can also be completed, improving onboard safety and the efficiency of flying,

  • The main goal is to reduce company expenses and increase safety.

EFB package supports EASA AMC-20-25 / FAA AC120-76 requirements. All data updated via local and/or internet from the server automatically. EFB is based on an open-systems design and provides an integrated operating environment for data sharing hosted EFB applications.

It also provides a suite of administrative utilities including the following:

Provided EFB Applications

  • FULLY INTEGRATED WEB BASED BACK OFFICE

  • EFB MANAGER

  • DISAGREE CHECK MANAGER

  • RECALL MANAGER

  • EFF (ELECTRONIC FLIGHT FOLDER)

  • TAKEOFF PERFORMANCE

  • LANDING PERFORMANCE

EFB Login

Strongpilot provides a login screen whereby various user groups can access separate domains on the EFB.

The customer using the Strongpilot supplied web based System Administrator application does maintenance of associated personnel identity databases.

Strongpilot manages inter-application communication through a set of virtual data buses.

EFF is the main loading module for the virtual data buses.

The EFF (Electronic Flight Folder) briefing package contains all flight-related documents and data such as the operational flight plan (OFP), weather, weather charts, and NOTAMs in a standardized data structure, always related to specific flights and dedicated to the crew.

Takeoff Performance tool calculates takeoff performance parameters based on the aircraft manufacturer’s performance algorithms (Manufacturer-provided SCAP modules), operator-specified policies, and applicable regulations. Advanced optimization techniques are used to maximize performance.

Landing performance tool calculates landing performance parameters based on the aircraft manufacturer’s performance algorithms (Manufacturer-provided SCAP modules), operator-specified policies, and applicable regulations. Advanced optimization techniques are used to maximize performance.

It provides to safely load and dispatch an aircraft, including all legally required documentation. System fully supports International Air Transport Association (IATA) standards and provides automated load distribution for any aircraft type.

Customers can optimize aircraft payloads through manual or automatic calculations. Rapid dispatch of flights minimizes flight delays. Fuel cost savings by utilizing optimal fuel efficiency and load balance.

EFB Manager provides a Library function that allows the user to select documents for viewing in the Document Viewer application. The Library also supports movies, forms and notes. Library contents are managed by the customer using the web based Strongpilot System Administrator application.

E-Checklist

The E-Checklist part of the EFB and replaces the hardcopy normal checklists we used previously. All required checklist item(s) will be downloaded to the EFB in the same format. EFB E-Checklist pilot application allows the pilot to perform all aircraft normal checklists using the automated challenge and response method. When all checklist items have been completed the program holds until prompted to continue to the next checklist.

Flight Log (Journey Log)

This Flight Log is the professional way of keeping all of your aircraft records together and organized in one safe place. Flight log is prepared automatically if EFF in use and required Aircraft wiring is established.

OFF Block, Takeoff, Landing and ON Block times are automatically set from captain UTC if ARINC 429 connection is provided. This feature reduces pilot workload and provides to calculate exact engine flight time and flight hours for the crew.

Crew names and their ID codes read from web server automatically. Entered delay codes, services and de-icing information logged to the Strongpilot Ground Management tool for further investigate.

Scratch Pad

Digital Station provides a scratch pad application. The user can use a finger or soft stylus to “write” information on the pad. Pre-composed forms can also be created and used in the scratch pad application.

The image can be saved and retrieved. No character recognition functionality is provided.

Messaging System

The EFB information system is capable of receiving messages from external sources (i.e. Dispatch, Flight Ops).

Whenever a message is available, a popup as well as a number higher than zero is being displayed, indicating the number of received messages. The number of received messages is reset to zero after the flight is closed.

Reminder System

Multi reminder message entries to the EFB system are available. The reminder system is able to insert up to 100 reminder messages at the same time.
